Hettinger库:

Rectory's 浓缩系列 allows students to have hands-on experiences on campus, rather than traveling to locations for typical field trips. The School brings organizations on campus, which allows students to participate in unique learning opportunities without taking them away from their other classes for an entire day.

Students get to voluntarily signup if they are interested in the topic, ensuring an excited audience. Programs are offered on an age-appropriate basis and limited to groups of no more than 30 students. All classes are hands on, which contributes to the excitement.

Students in grades 5-9 are required each term to read a book 由他们自己选择, 无论是虚构的, 非小说类, 图画小说或经典, 用英文或中文书写, 不管是短的还是长的. Each student is then required to turn in a review of that book to the library by a set date towards the end of each term. 然而, the style of review may vary: there is a written form one can fill in; one can create a PowerPoint, 一个iMovie, 使用谷歌幻灯片, etc; a student can make a diorama, 一幅画, 一幅画, a model; one can also deliver an oral review by scheduling a time with the librarian where we can discuss the book. 欢迎提出建议, as the only result is to see if the students read the book and what did they think 由他们自己选择. This information is then used to encourage others to read the book too!

The review is graded and this goes on the report card, along with a narrative stating what the students read and their reaction to it.

Our goal here at Rectory is to encourage students to read for their own enjoyment. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book!

The warmth and space of the Hettinger Library makes it a great place for special gatherings. Throughout the year, small and large groups congregate in the library for meetings and events. Here is just a sampling of the annual activities in the library:
